Biography:
Gonzalez was born and raised in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side and attended Chicago Public Schools, including John Spry Community School and Maria Saucedo Scholastic Academy, both in Little Village, as well as Whitney Young Magnet High School. Gonzalez, was a member of Congressman J. Garcia’s in-district constituent services staff, focusing on immigration, social security, veterans’ affairs, criminal justice and education. Gonzalez is the son of immigrants from Monterrey, Mexico. His father is an operating engineer and a member of IUOE Local 399 and his mother is a former member of SEIU Local 73. A graduate of Harvard University, BA – Government.

CHICAGO – On Monday morning, state Rep. Edgar Gonzalez, Jr., D-Chicago, joined workers’ rights organizations at Hearthside Foods in Bolingbrook to demand accountability from corporations who use day and temporary staffing agencies after a whistleblower living in the 23rd House District was fired for exposing child labor and unsafe working conditions.

CHICAGO – State Rep. Edgar Gonzalez Jr., D-Chicago, was selected by the Edgar Fellows Program to be a member of its 10th class of Illinois changemakers. Industry pioneers, state and local representatives and community leaders joined Gonzalez at University of Illinois Institute of Government and Public Affairs in Champaign, IL to discuss the ways to solve some of Illinois’ toughest problems.

CHICAGO – State Rep. Edgar Gonzalez Jr., D-Chicago, is getting his community ready for the new school year with a Back to School Fair on Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maria Saucedo Scholastic Academy in Little Village. Gonzalez will be joined by state Sen. Celina Villanueva, state Rep. Theresa Mah and Cook County Commissioner Alma Anaya.
