Hoffman Applauds Signing of Law Targeting Food Deserts, Encourages Support for Grocers

VENICE, Ill. – As part of efforts to reduce food deserts, state Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Swansea, joined state Sen. Christopher Belt, Gov. J.B. Pritzker and local leaders Friday at the Venice Park District Recreation Hall for the signing of a new law that will enable grocery stores found in food deserts to be eligible to receive state grants and incentives from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO).

RIVERSIDE, Ill. – Underscoring the need to give people second chances, state Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, D-Chicago, will join decertified officer Zenna Ramos, Village of Riverside President Joseph Ballerine, Village of Riverside Director of Public Safety Matthew Buckley and other local officials at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the Riverside Village Office to encourage the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) to reverse their decision.

Benton Presses DCFS to Lessen Burdens on Childcare Providers Through Improved Flexibility

PLAINFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Harry Benton, D-Plainfield, is questioning recent decisions by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) in response to concerns voiced by childcare providers across the state following DCFS’ decision to issue new rules ending the so-called “three hour rule,” which had been put in place to address childcare staffing concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic.
