Crawford Bill Clarifies Rights, Services Available to Parents of Students with Disabilities

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Mike Crawford, D-Chicago, passed legislation unanimously out of the Education Policy committee that makes parents of students with disabilities aware of their ability to have advocates present at Individual Educational Program (IEP) meetings. This legislation provides additional information that will allow families to best participate in the development of their child’s IEP, fulfilling a promise that he made to constituents.

Stuart-Backed Anti-Trafficking Bill Passes Out of Committee, Moves to the House Floor

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, has passed a bill through the House Judiciary – Criminal Committee that would empower survivors of human trafficking to prosecute their abusers no matter how much time has passed, if they were under the age of 18 at the time of the offense. The bill now moves to the floor for consideration by the full House of Representatives.
