Mason-Backed Move Over Task Force Shares Findings on Roadway Safety
GURNEE, Ill. – State Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, is sharing her support for a report recently published by the Move Over Task Force that offers recommendations on ways to better protect first responders while they are stopped on the side of roadways. The task force was created to examine ways to strengthen the state’s Move Over law, which requires motorists to change lanes or slow down when passing a vehicle that is stationary on the side of a road and displaying flashing warning lights. Mason was a sponsor of Senate Bill 2038, legislation from the 101st General Assembly that created the Move Over Task Force.
Vella Refuses Pension and Fights for End to Legislator Pensions
ROCKFORD, Ill. – As one of his first pieces of legislation, state Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, filed House Bill 2428 to prohibit future legislators from receiving a taxpayer funded pension when they leave office. This is following Vella’s own decision to refuse a pension for being a legislator.
