ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, is encouraging local women to apply for the Conference of Women Legislators (COWL) Scholarship, which will help cover the cost of college for 10 Illinois women.

“As a member of the Conference of Women Legislators, it is important to me to find ways to help better the lives of women across the state,” Manley said. “I am proud to be a part of an organization that helps support women students who wish to pursue higher education and achieve their goals.”

COWL is a bipartisan, bicameral non-profit organization of women legislators in the Illinois General Assembly. The COWL Scholarship is an undergraduate scholarship that covers tuition and other expenses up to $2,500 for the 2021-2022 academic year. The scholarship is awarded to ten women who are over the age of 25 who are Illinois residents and are taking at least six semester hours either in-person or online at an Illinois accredited college or university. Applications are due on May 1.

“As a former non-traditional aged student, I know the challenges that come with pursuing education as an adult, as well as the importance and benefit that doing so provides,” Manley said. “Ensuring that prospective students have the resources they need to go to college is a critical part of investing in our future, and the COWL Scholarship is just one way we can help our local students.”
