SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – With a new General Assembly beginning Wednesday, state Rep. Mary Gill, D-Chicago, retook her oath of office and issued the following statement:
“The start of a new General Assembly term is an opportunity to prioritize the issues families in our community care about. They expect Springfield to take a strong, sensible approach that improves educational opportunities for our children, makes our streets safer and addresses the high cost of living.
“There are real fiscal challenges for our state on the horizon, which underscores the need for us to focus on the issues that matter most to working families – including responsibly investing in proven public safety strategies that support our first responders. From health care to infrastructure, taking a
smart, balanced approach is necessary for us to properly support the needs of residents of all ages.
“It is an incredible privilege to have the opportunity to represent this community in Springfield. I’m thankful for the countless connections I have made with residents since taking office, and I’m excited for the days ahead. Let’s get to work.”
