ALSIP, Ill. – State Rep. Mary Gill, D-Chicago, and state Sen. Bill Cunningham, D-Chicago, are encouraging residents to bring old paperwork and documents to a free drive-thru shred event scheduled for Friday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Apollo Recreation Center in Alsip.
“If you’re doing some cleaning around the home and have some old receipts, bank statements and other documents that should be shredded, this is a good opportunity to easily take care of it,” Gill said. “Shredding is a good way to help protect yourself from identity theft, and I’m looking forward to bringing this free service to Alsip.”
The Aug. 4 event is free and open to the public. To ensure capacity, residents are asked to bring no more than two boxes of documents for shredding. Shredding is being offered only for residents, not businesses. Cardboard boxes cannot be left at the event. There will be no electronics recycling.
