Latino Caucus Urges Action on Reproductive Health Act

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – In response to the egregious attacks on women’s reproductive rights by extremist politicians around the country, the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus released the following statement urging for action on the Reproductive Health Act:

“We are witnessing the groundwork being laid for an extremist attempt to overturn Roe v. Wade. Radical politicians in Alabama and other parts of the country are abusing their offices to erode women’s rights. We must let them know loud and clear that the State of Illinois stands with women and their fundamental right to make their own medical decisions.

“The communities we represent lack adequate access to health care and the Reproductive Health Act will help address these inequities and ensure that women are able to access medical services in a safe way.

“Ultimately, this legislation is about freedom and empowerment for women and communities of color who have been held back from social, economic, and political advancement. We cannot wait any longer to act on this vital piece of legislation.”
