Chicago – State Rep. Mary Gill, D-Chicago, was named the Legislator of the Year by the Illinois Alzheimer’s Association for her determination to support people with Alzheimer’s Disease by championing legislation that provides treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease.

“Across the state, people are suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, and they deserve quality care without having to worry about the price,” Gill said. “While I am honored to have received this award, I am even more thankful to know that I’m helping people afford life-saving care during their battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.”

Gill spearheaded legislation that will expand Illinoisans’ access to Alzheimer’s treatments. The law will require that all state-regulated insurance plans cover treatments focused on slowing the progression of Alzheimer’s Disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association is focused on providing life-saving care and support to people with Alzheimer’s Disease and all other types of dementia. They are also the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research and host researchers from across the country as they work to find treatments and eventually a cure.
