CHICAGO – State Rep. Luis Arroyo, D-Chicago, Speaker Michael J. Madigan, Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti, State Rep. Will Guzzardi, and Alderman Milly Santiago will be joined by Metra Executive Director/CEO Donald A. Orseno and Metra’s Board of Directors on Monday, May 8, 2017 to ‘break ground’ and begin the reconstruction of the Healy Metra Station on the Milwaukee North Line.

“One of my top priorities id to bring job opportunities to our community and improve access to public transportation,” Arroyo said. “This renovation project will not only expand economic opportunity in our neighborhood but it will also provide a same and revamped train station that will better serve riders and improve access to other services like the CTA.”

The new station will include:

• Rehabilitated inbound and outbound headhouses.
• Rebuilt inbound and outbound platforms with new lighting, signage, and benches.
• The addition of heated ramps to each platform from Fullerton Ave, as well as new stairs.
• The current masonry shelter will be replaced by a new warming shelter, with fully glazed walls and on demand heat.
• A new sheltered waiting space with roofing extending over the stairs one each side.

The total cost of the Healy Station Project, design and construction is $7.3 million. The project is expected to take a little over one year and the project will be funded through the Illinois State Bond Program.

The Healy Metra Station on the Milwaukee North Line was last renovated in the early 1990’s. Completion of the project will provide a safe, convenient and appealing train station that will better serve current riders and improve connectivity to existing CTA services.
