BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – In an effort to help residents reduce their property tax bills, state Rep. Daniel Didech, D-Buffalo Grove, held a property tax assessment appeal seminar in Wheeling last week with Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi’s office and Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton.

“The large number of residents in attendance at the event demonstrates that more must be done to help connect homeowners with meaningful tax relief,” Didech said. “In addition to hosting events like this, I plan to continue fighting for taxpayers in Springfield in order to hold government accountable and reduce the wasteful spending that drives up property tax bills.”

In Springfield, Didech led the charge to pass Senate Bill 39, which creates the Illinois Property Tax Relief Fund to provide yearly cost-saving rebates to homeowners who qualify for a general homestead exemption. Under Didech’s new law, a homeowner’s rebate amount will be based on the amount of money available in the fund and the number of general homestead exemptions awarded in the state.
