SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Nathan Reitz, D-Steeleville, recently met with members of the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA), as hundreds of gun owners visited the Capitol for Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day (IGOLD).

“One of the first pieces of legislation I passed in Springfield was a bipartisan measure to cut burdensome red tape on gun owners who are following the law,” said Reitz. “I will continue standing up for Southern Illinois and our traditions by protecting our constitutional rights and supporting responsible gun owners in Illinois.”

Reitz recently passed a new law that extends the life of renewed concealed carry licenses, and reduces restrictions on military members and police officers, who have already received extensive training on handling a firearm. Reitz is also inviting local residents to his upcoming Gun Rights Update with the ISRA at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex on Dec. 14.

ALTON, Ill. – To help keep Metro East residents aware of new legislation, laws and proposals that would affect the rights of law-abiding gun owners, state Rep. Monica Bristow, D-Alton, is partnering with the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) to host a Gun Rights Update on Oct. 15.

“As a staunch supporter of our Second Amendment rights, I have fought against the new restrictions the legislature has enacted on law-abiding gun owners in Illinois,” said Bristow. “However, I want to ensure that local residents stay updated and know how these new pieces of legislation will affect them as well as looking at any future changes.”

Bristow’s Gun Rights Update will be held Tuesday, October 15 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. hosted at the Piasa Armory, located at 3685 E. Broadway in Alton. Bristow will be joined by a representative from the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) to also answer questions and discuss recent or future legislation. An RSVP is encouraged.

STREATOR, Ill. – State Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, and representatives from the Illinois State Rifle Association will partner to offer gun owners a free Gun Rights Seminar to review Illinois law and assist residents with Firearm Owner Identification (FOID) Card applications.

“Every day, Chicago politicians are actively working to make new laws to restrict law-abiding citizens’ rights,” Yednock said. “I proudly voted against the legislation that would revoke peoples’ FOID cards, and Illinois should be focused on helping people with mental illness while cracking down on repeat offenders.” 

Yednock is partnering with the Illinois State Rifle Association to update Illinois gun owners on their rights and assist with FOID card applications. Yednock’s event will take place on Monday, Aug. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Streator American Legion Post 217, located at 218 W. Main St. This event is free and open to the public.

“Representative Yednock has protected the rights of responsible gun owners, and I am glad to partner with him to help local residents understand their rights,” said Richard Pearson, Executive Director for the Illinois State Rifle Association. “With Second Amendment rights under attack by Chicago politicians, Illinois needs more leaders to defend peoples’ rights.”
