VILLA PARK, Ill. – In partnership with the Illinois State Treasurer’s office, state Rep. Deb Conroy, D-Villa Park, is hosting an I-Cash event to help local residents claim their lost funds currently being held by the state. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 14 at Conroy’s district office, located at 28 S. Villa Ave. in Villa Park. Appointments are required between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and walk-ins will be accepted between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“Many Illinoisans are not aware that they have unclaimed property currently being held by the state,” Conroy said. “I’m hosting this free event at my district office to provide local residents with a quick and easy opportunity to find out if they have unclaimed property and to return those funds to those who are owed.”

The State Treasurer is holding more than $3.5 billion dollars in unclaimed funds for Illinoisans. The state holds these lost funds until they are claimed by either the original owner or their heirs. Property is returned at no cost with the proper identification. Common types of unclaimed property include bank accounts, insurance policies, consumer refunds, payroll checks and more. Representatives from the Treasurer’s office will be on site at the event to check the I-Cash database, explain the process for claiming property and answer any questions.

“Each year, hundreds of thousands of new properties are added to the I-Cash program and one in four Illinois adults who search the database finds property to claim,” Conroy said. “I strongly encourage local residents to attend this event to learn if they have unclaimed property to recover.”

Rachelle Crowe, D-Glen Carbon, will be hosting an I-Cash event with the Illinois Treasurer’s Office at Godfrey Village Hall on Oct. 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“The Illinois Treasurer’s office currently has 2.9 billion dollars in unclaimed property such as uncashed checks, stock dividends, or forgotten property left in a safety deposit box,” said Bristow. “Residents can stop by to search their name or the name of a loved one to see what money or property is owed to them.”

Bristow and Crowe regularly host I-Cash events to across their districts to help residents reconnect with unclaimed property that is currently held by the state until it can be returned. Residents can stop by the Godfrey Village Hall located at 6810 Godfrey Road between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to see if the Illinois Treasurer’s Office is holding any property for them and file a claim to have it returned to them. This is a free event and no reservation is required.

“Filing a claim only takes a few minutes, and it starts the easy and quick process of having your property or money returned to you,” said Bristow. “During the many I-Cash events my office has hosted this year, we have been able to help residents learn about thousands of dollars owed to them and helped return that money or property to the rightful owner.”

Rachelle Crowe, D-Glen Carbon, partnered with the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office to help connect area residents with lost or forgotten property during an I-Cash event at the Alton Works Office.

“Nearly everyone who stopped by our I-Cash event was able to file a claim for lost property or receive help with a claim they already have,” said Bristow. “The Illinois State Treasurer’s office currently holds 2.9 billion dollars in unclaimed property such as uncashed checks or tax returns, or forgotten property left at a bank, and I’m glad that we were able to connect residents with their cash or property to get it properly returned.”

Last week, Bristow and Crowe hosted an I-Cash event at the newly opened Alton Works office where residents from across the Metro East were able to receive help in finding their property and filing claim to have it returned. Bristow will be hosting another I-Cash event this month on Sept. 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farm Fresh store on 515 S. Central Ave. in Wood River. This is a free event and requires no reservation.

“Through these events we have been able to return forgotten property and amounts ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars to its rightful owner,” said Bristow. “I would encourage anyone who couldn’t make it to our last event to stop by the Farm Fresh store in Wood River on Sept. 13 to search their name or the names of loved ones and file a free claim to have their property returned to them.”

“The I-Cash program that the treasurer’s office has is a great resource for our state, as there are thousands of people each year who get back money that they may have forgotten they had, and I look forward to bringing this service to my constituents,” said Hernandez. “All you need to do is bring in a valid ID and experts will look into the state database, which currently holds over $2.9 billion in unclaimed funds.”

Business owners and residents can reclaim various different forms of funds, including checking and savings accounts, insurance checks, payroll checks, money orders and uncashed checks. According to the treasurer’s office, 1 in 4 people who search for unclaimed property through the state database will find property to claim. The event and claims process is free and open to the public.

“Increasing public awareness of this program will help the hard-working families in our community find any money that may be owed to them,” said Hernandez. “Checking for unclaimed funds at an I-Cash event is quick and easy, and I encourage all local residents to attend.”

For more information, please contact Hernandez’s constituent services office at 630-270-1848 or email RepBarbaraHernandez@gmail.com.

“The Illinois Treasurer’s Office currently has 2.9 billion dollars in unclaimed funds and valuable items, whether it’s uncashed checks or refunds, or forgotten items in security deposit boxes,” said Bristow. “Last time we hosted an I-Cash, almost everyone who came was able to find money or property owed to them and was able to get help on site so that they could reclaim it.”

Bristow will be hosting two I-Cash events in the month of September on the following dates:

Sept. 4 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Location: Alton Works: 601 E. Broadway, Alton

Sept. 13 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Location: Wood River Farm Fresh: 515 S Central Ave, Wood River

Illinois residents can search their names or the name of a loved one to see if the state is holding any unclaimed property for them. Both events are free and open to the public and no reservation is necessary.

“I encourage residents to do a quick check to see what money or property might be owed to them while they are sharing their ideas with Alton Works or shopping for groceries,” said Bristow. “If they are not able to attend, people can still visit www.icash.illinoistreasurer.gov to see if they have any unclaimed property.”

Rachelle Crowe, D-Glen Carbon, are partnering with the Illinois State Treasurer to host an I-Cash event at the Wood River City Hall on Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“The Illinois State Treasurer is currently holding onto more than $3 billion in unclaimed property,” said Bristow. “These are often uncashed checks, tax refunds or other property that may have went unclaimed or forgotten. Hosting I-Cash events is any easy way to allow any Illinois resident to check and see if there is any property that is rightfully theirs.”

The free event will be located in the Council Chambers at the Wood River City Hall located at 111 North Wood River Ave. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents will be able to drop by and look up their name and the names of loved ones to see if there is any unclaimed property owed to them. Thousands of Illinois residents were able to have their money returned to them last year and the average claim value was $1,000. Those unable to attend can also visit https://icash.illinoistreasurer.gov/ to see if they have any unclaimed money.

“This past year, the Illinois State Treasurer was able to return a record $239 million in forgotten cash or property to the rightful owners, which was the most ever returned in the history of the I-Cash program.” said Bristow. “I would encourage everyone to take a couple of minutes and search for their name or a loved one to see if there is any cash or valuable property that could be returned to them.”

Monica Bristow, D-Alton, will be teaming up with Illinois Office of the Treasurer to host an I-Cash event on Tuesday, July 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Roxana Village Hall located at 400 S. Central Ave. in Roxana.

“Many Illinoisans have hundreds or thousands of dollars or more in unclaimed properties currently being held by the state,” said Bristow. “I enjoy hosting these events throughout my district to provide easy access for residents to find out how they can claim their property and reclaim any old checks, property or funds that rightfully belong to them.”

The Illinois State Treasurer’s office currently holds 2.9 billion dollars in unclaimed funds, such as forgotten property or unclaimed checks. When the original owners or their heirs make a claim the property is returned to them at no cost. The event is completely free and requires no reservations. Those who are unable to attend the event can still see if they are a family member has unclaimed money by visiting https://icash.illinoistreasurer.gov/.

“Much of the money continues to go unclaimed simply because people are unaware it exists, such as an uncashed paycheck, dividends or an item forgotten in a safety deposit box,” said Bristow. “This is an opportunity to find out if a resident or their loved one has unclaimed funds, and I look forward to helping connect people with any money or property that belongs to them.”

“I wanted to provide multiple opportunities for individuals in my district to take advantage of this service offered by the Illinois Treasurer’s office,” Stuart said. “I encourage residents and business owners to come to this event to begin the process of reclaiming their property from the state.”

State Treasurer Michael Frerichs’ office has $2.5 billion in unclaimed property that belongs to people across the state. Figures from last year show that residents in Madison County reclaimed over 2 million dollars from the state, with help from the ICash process. The property can be held in various different forms, which can include checking accounts, savings accounts, uncashed wage and payroll checks, uncashed stock dividends and stock certificates, insurance payments, utility deposits, customer deposits, accounts payable, credit balances, refund checks and more. A representative from the treasurer’s office will be available to check the ICash database and help file claims to property.

Monica Bristow, D-Alton, and the Office of the Illinois Treasurer, are partnering to host an I-Cash event on Thursday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hartford Public Library, located at 143 W Hawthorne St. in Hartford.

“These I-Cash events are a free, effective and easy way for people in the 111th district to see whether they or their family members have any unclaimed property, whether it is in the form of dividends, unclaimed checks from previous employment or refunds,” said Bristow. “Each year, hundreds of thousands of new pieces of property and unclaimed money are added to the Treasurer’s I-Cash program to be relocated with their rightful owners.”

The Illinois State Treasurer’s office currently safeguards more than 15 million unclaimed properties and checks that are valued in total at more than $2.9 billion. The Treasurer helps residents find any potential unclaimed property through the I-Cash Program, which is a free program offered to the public.

“Unfortunately, money and other items often go unclaimed simply because people are unaware of them,” said Bristow. “I recommend for everyone to stop by and have a quick search done to see if they are owed any forgotten property. If you are unable to attend, you can check to see if you or any member of your family has unclaimed property in the Treasurer’s Office by visiting online or by reaching out to my office in Alton.”

To check if you or a family member is owed any type of property, visit https://icash.illinoistreasurer.gov. For more information or if you need assistance in a claim to property, please contact Bristow’s constituent service office at 618-465-5900.
