ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is partnering with the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) for a Utility Bill Clinic on Monday, Aug. 19 from 6 pm to 8 pm. It will be at the Round Lake Area Library, located at 906 Hart Rd in Round Lake. Residents should bring their gas, electric, and phone bills for a free, one-on-one consultation with an expert who will identify hidden fees and unnecessary charges to save residents their hard-earned money.

“With property taxes out of control, middle-class families are already struggling,” said Yingling. “The last thing that these families need is their utility bills being bloated with unnecessary fees.”

Yingling has fought to save residents money on their utility bills during his time in the General Assembly. He has introduced legislation that would prohibit unregulated utility companies from using logos of regulated utility companies to mislead residents into purchasing unnecessary services. Hosting Utility Bill Clinics is just one of the many ways Yingling works to keep the price of utility bills manageable for middle-class families.

CHICAGO – State Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, in collaboration with the Citizens Utility Board (CUB), recently hosted a utility bill clinic to help residents identify ways to save money on their monthly bills.

“I am pleased to help members of our community deal with rising utility costs this summer,” said Slaughter. “I think everyone ought to know the tips and tricks that the Citizens Utility Board shared with us.”

Slaughter’s CUB clinic helped over 25 constituents learn about the many ways they can save money on their utilities. Attendees were given a free one-on-one consultation from a CUB expert. The experts gave attendees  breakdowns of their monthly charges and tips on how to reduce utility costs.

“I’m grateful for CUB and the ability to help folks in our community save on their utility bills,” said Slaughter. “I look forward to continuing to host events that benefit our local, hard-working families.”

ITASCA, Ill. – To help residents reduce the cost of their utility bills, state Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, is hosting a free Utility Bill Clinic with the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) on Wednesday, June 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bloomingdale Horizon Senior Living Community, located at 160 W. Lake St. in Bloomingdale.

“Many residents struggle to pay their utility bills, and often don’t understand the details of their bills,” said Pappas. “Middle-class families already pay extremely high property taxes, and high utility bills only add to the financial strain. I’m committed to helping families reduce their financial burden, and helping residents understand the intricacies of their utility bills is one important step towards that goal.”

At Pappas’ event, utility bill experts from CUB will review residents’ utility bills and explain possible charges or offer suggestions that could save residents money on their bills. Residents should bring copies of their phone, water, and utility bills. Residents are strongly recommended to RSVP, as space is limited.

CHICAGO – To ensure that bill-payers are not overpaying for services, the Citizens Utility Board and state Rep. Theresa Mah, D-Chicago, will be hosting a clinic to help residents possibly save money on electric, gas and phone bills on Monday, February 5 at John C. Haines Elementary School in Chicago.

“With winter weather increasing residents’ utility usage, it’s important that consumers are not overpaying or paying for services that they may not need or use,” said Mah. “CUB does a great job of identifying hidden fees and unnecessary charges, while educating consumers on energy conservation.”

The event will be held on Monday, February 5 from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. in the lunchroom of John C. Haines Elementary School, located at 247 W 23rd Pl. in Chicago. Community members are asked to bring current copies of electric, gas and phone bills for a CUB expert to personally review the statements and find ways to provide savings. Volunteer Spanish and Chinese translators will also be provided for those who need language assistance.

“Many times people are paying a substantial amount more than they should be on everyday utilities,” said Mah. “This clinic gives my constituents the opportunity to receive personalized and private advice on how they can potentially save money from the consumer protection group, Citizens Utility Board.”

Registration is required to partake in this event. To register, residents are encouraged to call Rep. Mah’s district office at 872-281-5775 and be sure to include whether or not a translator will be needed. Parking will be available in the Haines Elementary School Parking lot and on nearby streets.

Mah represents the 2nd District, which includes the Chicago neighborhoods of McKinley Park, Pilsen, Chinatown, Bridgeport, Brighton Park and Back of the Yards.
