What is Redistricting?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Redistricting refers to the process of redefining the political geographic boundaries including representative districts, senate districts, and congressional districts. The State Constitution gives the General Assembly the responsibility for redrawing legislative boundaries every ten years.<\/p>\n

According to the Illinois State Constitution:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the year following each Federal decennial census year, the General Assembly by law shall redistrict the Legislative Districts and Representative Districts\u201d (Article IV, Section 3<\/a>).<\/p>\n
