Stuart Meets With Local Advocates and Patients with Rare Genetic Syndrome
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, met with advocates and discussed the needs of patients and families affected by a rare genetic syndrome during a visit to the world headquarters of the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias (NFED) in Fairview Heights. The Foundation works to support and advocate for those affected by the disorder, which can cause the skin, sweat glands, hair, nails, teeth, and mucous membranes to develop abnormally.
Stuart Partners With ImpactLife for Blood Drive

GRANITE CITY, Ill. – State Representative Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, in partnership with Granite City Township Assessor Deborah Gray, will host a seminar on property taxes for residents of Granite City, IL. The event will be held on June 14th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Granite City Township Supervisor’s Office, 2060 Delmar Ave., Suite A, in Granite City. There is no cost to attend.
Stuart Bill to Require Coverage for Genetic Cancer Screening Becomes Law
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Representative Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, is applauding Governor JB Pritzker for his decision to sign HB 5334 into law on May 27th, 2022. The new law requires that, beginning January 1, 2024, all individual and group accident and health insurance policies provide coverage for the cost of genetic testing to better assess the risk of breast and ovarian cancers.
Stuart-Backed Obstetrician Loan Forgiveness Bill Signed

Stuart-Sponsored Dementia Support Bill Signed Into Law
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – House Bill 4388, co-sponsored by State Representative Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, which mandates enhanced training for first responders in assisting Illinoisans suffering from Alzheimers and other forms of dementia, was signed into law by Gov. JB Pritzker on May 13, 2022. The new law requires that EMS personnel complete at least one hour of training related to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Rep. Stuart was the bill’s Chief Co-Sponsor in the House.
