Harper: Governor’s Record Speaks for Itself

SPRINGFIELD, Ill– In the moments after Governor Rauner’s budget address, state Rep. Sonya Harper, D-Chicago, released the following statement:

“Governor Rauner has failed the people of Illinois. His inaction and inability to work with the legislature to enact a balanced budget have left many communities struggling for essential services.

“On his watch, social services have eroded, access to health care has diminished, and the education system has suffered – forcing some schools to close their doors. It is time for the governor to end his political games and help us work together in to uplift our communities.

“It is my sincere hope that the governor will keep his word on working collaboratively with the legislature, but if the past is any indication of what his intentions are, my colleagues in the House and Senate will be forced to work without him.”
