JOLIET, Ill. – In appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our area veterans, state Rep. Larry Walsh Jr., D-Elwood, state Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, state Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, D-Shorewood, and state Sen. Pat McGuire, D-Joliet, are hosting a Veteran Appreciation Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Stone City VFW Post 2199, located at 124 Stone City Dr. in Joliet.
“We are fortunate to have so many brave men and women who have sacrificed to protect our freedoms,” Walsh said. “This veteran appreciation breakfast is one way we can show our gratitude for those who have served in our nation’s armed forces.”
The Veteran Appreciation Breakfast will be free for veterans and their families. Following the breakfast, attendees are then invited to travel to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, located at 20953 W. Hoff Rd. in Elwood where a free tour of the cemetery will begin at 11 a.m. Attendees will be responsible for their own transportation to the cemetery.
“I think most people who live in our community have a family member or they know someone that has served our country,” Manley said. “This is a great opportunity to recognize the veteran in your life by inviting them to be honored at this breakfast.”
It is asked that residents who wish to attend the breakfast please RSVP by contacting Walsh’s full-time constituent service office at 815-730-8600 or at StateRepLarryWalshJr@gmail.com.
