Manley Joins Community in Fight to End Alzheimer’s Disease

JOLIET, Ill. – State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, recent joined members from across the community to raise awareness and money for research at Joliet’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

“Over the past few years, the lack of a state budget cut care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia,” Manley said. “I was proud to support a budget plan this year that protects funding for these services and provides critically needed assistance to impacted residents. I am grateful to everyone who came out to this month’s walk and were willing to help fund efforts to end this tragic disease.”

Manley has been a long-time advocate for policies that help individuals facing Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Manley sponsored legislation to create the “Silver Search” program, which provides at local law enforcement with new resources to use to help find individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. The new “Silver Search” program will go into full effect on Nov. 1.
