ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – Building upon his success in helping to pass legislation that brings millions of new dollars to local schools while paving the way for property tax relief for working families, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, met with representatives from area school districts on Tuesday as a part of his continued outreach focused on educational issues.
“From serving as a principal for a day at our local schools to holding stakeholder meetings with school leaders and other education advocates, it is important for me as a lawmaker to increase my access to those who are quite literally on the front lines implementing our state’s education policies,” Yingling said. “Tuesday’s roundtable with various educational leaders enlisted their feedback on the groundwork the legislature has laid and their feedback on the road ahead to improve our schools.”
Yingling supported Senate Bill 1947 to bring nearly $7 million in new state funding to the Lake County school districts he represents. Additionally, he recently served as a “Principal for a Day” at Avon Center and recently met with school superintendents and administrators for his Citizen Advisory Committee on Education. Yingling plans to host more meetings in the weeks ahead and is scheduled to participate at Big Hollow’s ‘Read-A- Thon.’
