EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – State Rep. LaToya Greenwood, D-East St. Louis, is partnering with the Illinois Department of Employment Security and St. Clair County’s workforce development group for a free community job fair on Monday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clyde C. Jordan Senior Center, located at 6755 State St in East St. Louis.

“The lack of jobs in our area is a major concern that I hear from residents while out in the community,” said Greenwood. “My job fair is an opportunity for individuals to connect directly with potential employers and help give our friends and neighbors the chance at a good-paying job.”

Greenwood’s free community job fair will give job seekers the opportunity to speak one-on-one with potential employers. Attendees are encouraged to bring a government issued ID and an updated resume. The Illinois Department of Employment Security will also be providing resume assistance by helping individuals market their skills to employers.

Greenwood’s community job fair will open an hour early at 10 a.m. to give veterans and service members priority in finding employment. Illinois Sectary of State Jesse White’s mobile office unit will also be on sight to give residents the chance to renew their driver’s license and purchase their vehicle registration.

“I encouraged anyone looking for employment or looking to change employers to attend our community job fair,” said Greenwood. “I look forward to connecting with local residents and I will strive to continue addressing the needs and concerns of our area.”
