EVERGREEN PARK, Ill. – State Reps. Kelly Burke, D-Evergreen Park, and Fran Hurley, D-Chicago, and state Sen. Bill Cunningham, D-Chicago, are hosting a free Women’s Self-Defense Seminar on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Saint Xavier University-Shannon Center, located at 3700 W. 103rd Street in Chicago.
“No one should have to feel vulnerable to criminals, so I want to give women in our area the information they need to protect themselves,” Burke said. “This introductory seminar will provide women of all ages the techniques they need to defend themselves.”
Burke, Cunningham and Hurley will welcome a trained law enforcement officer to lead the introductory self-defense seminar, which is aimed at increasing awareness and keeping women safe. This free seminar will be fun, interactive, and provide introductory information on how to protect yourself from assailants. Due to limited space, RSVPs are requested. To reserve a spot, please email smkerwin@kellyburkerep36.org.
“I am encouraging women of all ages to come to this free event and learn how they can avoid becoming a victim,” Burke said. “I hope everyone can make it out to this self-defense seminar.”
