AURORA, Ill. – To help families better understand the bipartisan budget compromise, state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, is hosting a second State Budget Information Session on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Aurora Library-Eola Road Branch, located at 555 S. Eola Rd in Aurora.
“I think it’s important for the public to know the truth on how the budget impasse, resulting from the governor’s total veto in 2015, was damaging the State of Illinois,” Kifowit said. “Democrats and Republicans worked together to end the budget crisis created by the governor and unfortunately there is an enormous amount of misinformation being put out via email and on the internet.”
Kifowit’s State Budget Information Session will feature Center for Tax and Budget Accountability Executive Director Ralph Martire. As seating is limited at the library, those interested in attending the information session are encouraged to RSVP by calling Kifowit’s constituent service office at 630-585-1308 or by email at rsvp@ildistrict84.com.
“The bipartisan budget compromise funds programs seniors rely on like Meals on Wheels, ensures college students can continue receiving their MAP Grants, and student Veterans can receive their Illinois Veteran Grants, in addition to cutting billions of dollars in government bureaucracy,” Kifowit said. “The governor’s veto put the wellbeing of our most vulnerable in jeopardy, not to mention the real possibility of Illinois being the first state in U.S. history to have junk status, and this information session will set the record straight.”
