JOLIET, Ill. – State Rep. Larry Walsh, Jr., D-Elwood, is asking local residents to donate school supplies to help students in need. Walsh will collect supplies for the Will County Back to School Fair coordinated by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet.
“For many families, it can be tough to cover the cost of school supplies,” Walsh said. “I am thrilled to be working with the Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet to help collect supplies for families in need.”
Walsh’s office will be collecting school supplies from now until July 28. His office is located at 121 Springfield Ave. in Joliet and is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Residents can also drop off donated school supplies at the Catholic Charities’ Giving Tree Donation Center, located at 3016 S. State Street in Lockport. The center’s hours at Mondays and Fridays 9 a.m. to noon and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 9 a.m. 3 p.m. (closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch).
The following new items are requested:
· 2-pocket folders · Spiral notebooks · Wide rule paper · College rule paper · Index cards Residents may also donate new or gently used children’s books.
