ROCKFORD, Ill. —State Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, is partnering with the Illinois Tollway Authority to host an I-PASS On Demand event to help local residents access free I-PASS sticker tags and receive account assistance. The event will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at IBEW Local 364, 6820 Mill Road in Rockford.

“Our goal is to make it easier and more affordable for families to travel Illinois tollways,” Vella said. “This event is about meeting people where they are and making sure residents have access to the tools and assistance they need to avoid fees and fines.”

At the event, residents will be able to receive free I-PASS sticker tags for every passenger vehicle, open new I-PASS accounts with as little as $4 in prepaid tolls, and learn about automatic replenishment options. Staff from the Illinois Tollway will also be on site to provide account management support and information about I-PASS Assist.

“Too often, families end up paying more than they should because they don’t have clear information or easy access to support,” Vella said. “By bringing these services directly to Rockford, we’re helping residents save money and navigate the system with clarity and confidence.”

The new I-PASS sticker tags are ready for use on Illinois Tollway and E-ZPass roadways 24 hours after activation. There is no deposit required for sticker tags obtained through the Illinois Tollway, and no batteries are needed. Existing transponders will continue to work as designed, and deposits from older transponders transfer into a customer’s account balance once deactivated.
