SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Kelly Burke, D-Evergreen Park, issued the following statement Friday as budget negotiations continue:
“Legislators and the governor are moving in the right direction. Democratic and Republican legislators signaled their willingness to come together to support a spending plan by voting overwhelmingly in favor of an amendment that directs state spending in the next year. We need to keep moving forward to finish this deal. While we have agreed on bipartisan framework for a balanced budget that cuts state bureaucracy and invests our finite resources in critical services, there is more work to be done. I am ready to stay in Springfield and continue working to pass a fair and responsible budget.”
