EAST MOLINE, Ill. – As area families deal with the damaging consequences of federal cuts to education and childcare, state Rep. Gregg Johnson, D-Rock Island, will join local leaders for a focused listening session Thursday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. at the Hampton Township Center, located at 209 19th St. in East Moline.

“We know Washington is causing unnecessary pain, but we need to work together on state and local ideas that can curb the damage and better position our area moving forward,” Johnson said. “Responsibly investing in education and childcare is critical to the health of every single community, and we need to make sure we’re not closing doors on our children. I’m looking forward to this needed conversation.”

Johnson’s listening session is open to the public and media, and will highlight possible state, county and local resources available for impacted residents. It is the second of a series of community conversations Johnson is leading regarding federal cuts, following a recent discussion on healthcare.
