ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — State Rep. Mary Beth Canty, D-Arlington Heights, is urging Illinoisans to use Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) guidance this fall, despite shifting federal positions, which remain confused and chaotic.

“The Trump administration’s attacks on science and unabashed denial of vaccines-and now baseless fearmongering about even the most basic pain relief medications-are coming at a dangerous time,” Canty said. “In addition to standard flu shots and vaccinations that save countless lives every year, immunocompromised and other unvaccinated people need to stay safe against the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic that are exacerbated during the fall and winter months. Regardless of any chaos coming from the White House, I urge everyone in our community to take the IDPH’s healthcare recommendations seriously.”

Following extensive scientific review and debate, the IDPH released a comprehensive list of vaccination recommendations and public health best practices that is available at:

“We have an extreme federal government destabilizing virtually every area of our lives right now, and it can be overwhelming. One day, inane trade policies create havoc in the stock market; the next, President Trump incoherently proclaims that Tylenol is dangerous,” Canty said. “We can’t forget that smart people we can rely on are still doing their jobs. Following their guidance and maintaining a healthy lifestyle goes hand-in-hand with protests and boycotts when it comes to overcoming the challenges presented by this administration.”
