SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Jaime Andrade, D-Chicago, advanced three key pieces of legislation out of House committees to improve roadway safety, crack down on high-speed motor vehicles and protect highway construction workers. Andrade's bills now move to the House Floor for consideration.

“I’ve spent my legislative career making sure kids in my community can cross the street safely, that workers are protected on our overpasses and that motorists can navigate our roadways with peace of mind,” Andrade said. “My legislative agenda continues this fight and makes these the priority for our state's public safety and infrastructure efforts. The work is far from over, and I am committed to seeing these sent to the governor's desk.”

Andrade passes three critical roadway safety measures out of House committees, including:
– House Bill 2461, which dedicates a portion of the revenue generated from a speed
enforcement camera for safety improvements to local schools, parks and libraries.
– House Bill 2857, which makes work zones safer for construction workers by establishing
automated traffic control systems to crack down on work zone speed limit violations.
– House Bill 3438, which requires the Department of Transportation to expand reporting on
the status and life-cycle of Illinois roadways.
