SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, responded to the budget address on Wednesday by prioritizing high-quality education and cost cutting for working families:
“I’m committed to fighting for the priorities of 50th district families in our State Capitol. We need a budget focused on cutting costs for working families and promoting high-quality education. Groceries, prescription drugs, housing and utilities are vital expenses, and all cost too much. From childcare to higher education, great progress has been made for Illinois schools, but there is more work to do. As I join my colleagues in crafting the budget over the coming months, those priorities will be top of mind.
“We are, of course, also challenged by an extreme Trump Administration that does not have our priorities in mind. As a result, budgeting for Illinois will involve substantial hurdles this year. However, my colleagues and I are ready to do the work.”
