Briel Releases Statement on Trump Administration’s Federal Aid Freeze

OTTAWA, Ill. – State Rep. Amy “Murri” Briel, D-Ottawa, issued the following statement in response to the recently rescinded Trump Administration order temporarily freezing federal aid for hundreds of million Americans:

“I know how concerned residents have been watching the intentionally chaotic and cruel decisions coming out of Washington over the past week. While the Trump Administration’s attempt to unilaterally and illegally halt critical services families need appears to have been reversed, we need to expect additional attempts by this administration to overstep their authority, impose an extreme agenda, and cut resources for working people will follow.

“My focus is on what we can control as a state to ensure families in our community have the resources they need to be their best. We must remain focused on high-quality and accessible healthcare, education, and fair economic opportunities for any resident to thrive. I know what matters most to us, and my focus remains on delivering smart solutions for our neighbors and demanding the best for our local communities in the Statehouse.”
