SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Following the inauguration of the 104th General Assembly, state Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth, D-Peoria, issued the following statement:
“Families across Illinois are counting on the General Assembly to take real action this session to spur economic growth, lower costs and build a better future for our children. They also expect us to take a balanced, fiscally responsible approach to the challenges we face that keeps our state on the path to
financial stability and success.
“There is a lot of work ahead, but I’m optimistic that this General Assembly possesses the collaborative spirit necessary to come together and find commonsense solutions to make our streets safer, improve our schools and help families put food on the table.
“With a new administration in Washington, we will also need to be a check on extremist politicians who seek to roll back our fundamental freedoms. In Illinois we support worker rights, we help our neighbors in need and we will continue to be a safe haven for those seeking reproductive healthcare.
“It is an incredible privilege to have the opportunity to continue serving the people of Peoria in Springfield, and I’m looking forward to a productive year for our state. Let’s get to work.”
