ELGIN, Ill. – State Rep. Anna Moeller, D-Elgin, is partnering with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to celebrate local educational leaders making a difference in our children’s lives, opening nominations for the Thomas Lay Burroughs Award.
“Legislators and local leaders are critical partners in making sure every child can succeed, and I am honored to celebrate that partnership” Moeller said. “If you know a local school board member who has gone above and beyond to support excellence, encourage growth for underserved students, or create more equitable solutions to complex problems, nominate them for this award. Our educators and staff deserve all the support and celebration we can give them for doing the work of preparing our students for the future.”
The Thomas Lay Burroughs Award is open to outstanding members of local Illinois school boards for success in creating a better, more equitable and achievement-oriented educational environment at the local level. First beginning in 1991, the award is presented to nominees at a November before a conference of their peers. Nominations for the Thomas Lay Burroughs Award close Friday, October 18, 2024.
