BATAVIA, Ill. – State Rep. Matt Hanson, D-Montgomery, is highlighting new state grants that will support local libraries with their collections, evolving technology and programming.

“Our libraries are focal points for our communities, providing learning opportunities for residents of all ages,” Hanson said. “I’m thrilled to see this support, as it will aid our libraries in their mission and further provide high-quality resources for area residents.”

Grants for libraries statewide were recently announced by Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, who also serves as State Librarian. Included in the per capita funding, which was made possible by Hanson’s support of this year’s state budget, is:

– $268,104 for Aurora,
– $104,704 for Oswego,
– $82,995 for St. Charles,
– $48,694 for Geneva,
– $38,990 for Batavia, and
– $27,117 for North Aurora.

“I’m thankful for our local library staff, particularly those who help to inspire our children,” Hanson said. “These are critically-important learning centers that continue to encourage growth and spark new passions. It’s great to see these resources coming in.”
