ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – As part of her efforts to expand access to child care for caregivers, state Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, is encouraging child care providers in Will County to apply for the Elevate Will County – Child Care Provider Grant.

“As any working parent knows, affordable child care is indispensable for balancing work responsibilities with family obligations,” said Manley. “Whether it’s enhancing the quality of existing child care options or expanding capacity within our community, supporting child care providers can significantly impact residents’ lives. I commend Will County for initiating this vital program and strongly urge local providers to seize this opportunity.”

The Elevate Will County – Child Care Provider Grant will provide grants ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 to licensed child care providers in Will County. These grants may be used for educational materials, developmental support services, or improvements to physical space and technology. Applicants may apply for multiple grants through the program. The deadline to apply is May 22. For more information or to apply, please visit willcountyillinois.org/child-care-grant/.

Manley’s dedication to supporting child care providers is longstanding. In 2022, she passed legislation directing the Illinois Department of Human Services to design an off-hour child care program, providing additional child care opportunities to workers with nontraditional work schedules, such as first responders and nurses. Manley also helped pass legislation creating the Start Smart initiative, expanding access to affordable childcare and strengthening funding for early childhood education.

“Not only does child care offer children invaluable developmental benefits, such as fostering social, emotional, and communication skills, it also empowers caregivers to pursue their personal goals,” said Manley. “Investing in our child care system benefits both parents and children alike. That’s why I remain dedicated to ensuring child care remains affordable and accessible for every member of our community.”
