LaPointe Invites Community Members to Senior Resource Fair

CHICAGO – State Rep. Lindsey LaPointe, D-Chicago, is inviting local community members to a Senior Resource Fair on Friday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Copernicus Center, 5216 W Lawrence Ave. in Chicago.

“This is a great opportunity for members of our community to come together and get connected locally to a variety of valuable information, resources, and services that are specifically tailored to our older residents,” said LaPointe. “Seniors can learn about a wide range of resources available to them, such as legal assistance, housing support, and food distribution services, allowing them to take a more active role in managing their lives independently.”

LaPointe’s Senior Resource Fair, brainstormed by her senior advisory council, will connect residents with cost-saving programs, public benefits and assistance, information on long-term care access, and more. Co-hosted by Senator Robert Martwick, Commissioner Bridget Degnen, and Congressman Mike Quigley, free programming sessions include driving safety, drafting a power of attorney and a living will, and understanding tenant rights. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to connect with departments including the Illinois Secretary of State, the Illinois Department of Aging, the Chicago Senior Services Division, and others.

“This event is a one-stop shop for seniors to access information and support without having to travel to multiple locations,” said LaPointe. “I look forward to seeing older adults in our community benefit from this event.”
