Buckner Highlights Increased Access to Mifepristone, Reproductive Freedom

CHICAGO – State Rep. Kam Buckner, D-Chicago, issued this statement following the news that Walgreens will be adding Mifepristone to some Illinois stores:

“Nationally, anti-choice extremists are attacking the bodily autonomy of every birthing person, but in Illinois, their efforts have brought more freedom not less. Walgreens is now dispensing mifepristone on their shelves across the state, another gain for human rights in Illinois made possible by recent pro-choice legislation I was proud to help pass.

“While today is a good day for human rights, this fight will continue as long as partisan overreach and a deeply misguided Supreme Court target bodily autonomy. However, I’m in it for the duration, and successes like this make me hopeful that Illinois will always be a haven for the right to choose.”
