NAPERVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Janet Yang Rohr, D-Naperville, secured $142,000 for the Bolingbrook Park District to assist with the replacement of Champions Park and Lilac Park playgrounds.
“We greatly appreciate Representative Yang Rohr’s advocating for us to help serve the children of the community. The costs associated with playground replacement have dramatically increased over the past several years. These funds will help us continue to replace vital infrastructure without having to sacrifice service or critical updates throughout the district,” said Michael Selep, Bolingbrook Park District Executive Director.
“Playgrounds and public parks play critical roles in connecting people and communities,” YangRohr said. “This funding will help the Park District revitalize and update their playground spaces so young families can trust their children are spending valuable time outdoors on safe and accessible equipment. State and local partnerships are vital to supporting families, and I will continue to amplify these and other local needs in the General Assembly.
Designs for the new playgrounds will be complete in the spring of 2024. Construction is planned to be complete by fall of 2024. Community members will have opportunities to provide input into the planning process. “Playgrounds are fundamental components of our parks. Having the ability to update them on a regular basis enhances the quality of life for the children of our community. We are extremely grateful for Representative Yang Rohr’s efforts to provide the district with needed funding,” said Jerry Hix, Bolingbrook Park District Board President.
