Andrade Invites Residents to Grand Opening Celebration of New Independence Park Playground

CHICAGO – State Rep. Jaime Andrade, D-Chicago, is inviting residents to the Grand Opening Celebration of the newly renovated Independence Park Playground, located at 3945 N Springfield Ave. on Saturday, May 6 at noon.

“Over the past few years I have worked in conjunction with local elected officials, neighborhood organizations, the Chicago Park District, the Mayor, and local residents in an attempt to renovate the Independence Park Playground,” Andrade said, “Through hard work, determination, and cooperation we were able to successfully secure funding to revamp our neighborhood’s playground.”

Andrade is co-hosting the celebration with 45th Ward Alderman John Arena, and the Independence Park Advisory Council. The event will feature multiple family friendly activities including food, music, games, prizes and more. The event is free and open to the public.

“I am very proud of the work that myself, Alderman Arena, and the Independence Park Advisory Council were able to accomplish,” Andrade said. “Our neighborhood has a beautiful new park, and I am hopeful that residents are able to bring their families to the grand opening celebration for some family fun and to experience the new park first-hand.”
