ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — State Rep. Mary Beth Canty, D-Arlington Heights, is hosting an art contest for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Winning artwork will be displayed in “Mary Beth’s Rotating Art Museum” in her district and Springfield offices, as well as featured on social media.
“Our community is full of creative, talented young people, and it’s important that we support and encourage their creative pursuits to create well rounded adults. This competition is a fun way to do that and introduce children to government and public service,” Canty said. “The wellbeing and success of our community’s children is so important, and their artwork will act as a constant reminder of my commitment to them.”
Canty’s office will accept one entry per student on a standard sheet of printer paper. Students can compete in the following age groups: kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade, and sixth through eighth grade. There will be two winners per age group. Competitors can mail or bring their entries to Canty’s district office at 12 E Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights by May 19 any time Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information on Canty’s events, legislation, and more, follow her @RepMBC on Facebook and Twitter, and @rep.mbc on Instagram.
