DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – State Rep. Anne Stava-Murray, D-Downers Grove, issues the following statement regarding the International Women’s Day.
“I am thrilled to announce that International Women’s Day is officially here. As the Chairwoman of the Women’s Caucus, I am proud to stand with my fellow female legislators to recognize and celebrate the countless contributions women have made throughout history.
“Today and throughout this month, we honor the brave and determined women who have fought for equality and justice. Women have always been at the forefront of some of the most significant social and political movements. I am so honored to be a part of the Women’s Caucus, and I am inspired by all the incredible women in our state who are dedicated to achieving gender equality in Illinois.
“As we celebrate, we must also recognize that there is still more work to be done to achieve equality for women in all parts of our society. We must continue to fight for equal pay, reproductive rights, and an end to gender-based violence and discrimination. Together, we can make a difference and make Illinois a place where every woman and girl has the opportunity to reach her full potential no matter her socioeconomic background.”
