Black Caucus to Hold Press Conference Following Governor’s Address

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The members of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus will discuss their budget priorities at a press conference 15 minutes after the conclusion of the governor’s 12 p.m. budget address in front of the 2nd floor staircase of the Capitol Rotunda on Wednesday, Feb. 15. 

“It’s important to us as representatives of our constituents and the Black community across the state that we stand bravely on the side of justice and present a bold vision for Illinois’ future,” the Black Caucus said. “In response to rising bigotry and racially motivated attacks against communities of color, we have a responsibility to work diligently and with stakeholders to create lasting, systemic solutions. We are looking forward to hearing from Governor Pritzker about how we can work together to uplift Black and Brown communities in the state.” 

State Rep. Carol Ammons, Joint Co-Chair of the ILBC, will join Senate ILBC Chair Robert Peters and House Chair Lakesia Collins with opening and closing remarks. They will also assist with press questions. A recording of the press conference will be available at https://livestream.com/blueroomstream.
