Lilly Introduces Legislation to Bring Work Ethics into Classroom

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. –State Rep. Camille Lilly, D-Oak Park, is sponsoring legislation that will bring an education course on work ethics to students in 6th through 12th grade.

“When students are entering 6th grade, it allows for the opportunity to introduce important values and work ethics amongst the student body,” Lilly said.  “This course will teach the importance of ethics to students, and specifically how it can apply to other areas of their lives, including their school work.”

Lilly introduced House Bill 3792, which requires school districts throughout Illinois to introduce all students in grades 6th through 12th to courses on work ethics.  These courses will include topics such as reliability, accountability, professionalism, having a positive attitude, respect for others and possessing integrity.

“Our youth are an important part of society, and we must instill the importance of a good work ethic,” Lilly said.  “With this legislation, schools throughout the state will be providing students with the necessary coursework to provide a foundation of work ethics that will benefit them as a student and future employee.”

Lilly represents the 78th District, which includes parts of Chicago, Oak Park, Elmwood Park, River Grove, Franklin Park, and Melrose Park.
