BOLINGBROOK, Ill. — State Rep. Dagmara “Dee” Avelar, D-Bolingbrook, will continue her fight for affordable health care and local infrastructure development as a member of key House committees focused on health, human services, and transportation.

“I am excited to bring my experience and perspective into these committees, ” said Avelar. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to come up with solutions to important issues that affect families and businesses across our state. Thousands of Illinoisans are dependent on state transportation services and social programs. That’s why I am committed to expanding and improving our state’s infrastructure, pensions, and health care services.”

As a champion for middle-class families, Avelar will work for more affordable health care and prescription drugs as a member of the Appropriations—Health and Human Services and Health Care Licenses Committee.

Additionally, Avelar will ensure the voices of local commuters and businesses are part of the conversation on new infrastructure investment as a member of the Transportation: Rail Systems, Roads & Bridges Committee.

Avelar will also advance efforts to provide needed funding for law enforcement while also investing in smart solutions that address the root causes of crime as a member of the Appropriations-Public Safety Committee.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to represent our shared interests and unique perspective in Springfield,” said Avelar. “Hearing from those I represent on the issues that matter to them helps me to be a better legislator. I look forward to working together with my colleagues to move our state forward.”
