CHICAGO – State Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado, D-Chicago, celebrated the House’s passage of critical gun safety legislation, working with her colleagues to bring down gun violence across the state:
“Weapons of war do not belong on the streets of Chicago or any other community in the state of Illinois,” Delgado said. “We have daily reminders that gun violence can affect any community, anywhere and wreak havoc on innocent people. This legislation builds on our state’s gun laws to tackle gun trafficking across state lines, prevent dangerous people from obtaining battlefield-equipped weapons and keeps lawfully-obtained guns in the hands of law-abiding gun owners. As a state representative, it is my responsibility to keep my constituents and the people of Illinois safe. The Protect Illinois Communities Act is not the end of our work on this issue, but I am proud of the steps we have taken for gun safety.”
