CHICAGO – State Rep. Edgar Gonzalez Jr., D-Chicago, wants to get his community ready for the upcoming school year through a Back to School Fair on Saturday, August 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thomas Kelly High School in Brighton Park. Rep. Gonzalez will be accompanied by state Sen. Celina Villanueva, state Rep. Theresa Mah, Cook County Commissioner Alma Anaya and state Rep. Aaron Ortíz.
“While kids are eager to get back to school to see their friends, families have to grapple with the challenges of affording all the materials their kids need for a great school year,” Gonzalez said. “I want to do my part to ease this burden. I am very excited to join with my colleagues in supporting families and their children. We are more than just your representatives in state and local government. We are members of the community who want to do our part, and this event will help us do just that.”
In addition to handing out backpacks and other school supplies, COVID-19 booster shots for children six months and older, health information and resources, and live entertainment will be available. Minors will need a parent or guardian to sign off on their booster shot.
