EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools (IARSS) has announced that state Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, will be a recipient of the IARSS ‘Friends of Education’ Award, to be conferred at a ceremony on July 19.
“The leadership and support you have provided to Regional Offices of Education and our schools in many areas including truancy funding have resulted in unexpected, much needed funding for some of our most at-risk students,” the IARSS wrote to Stuart in announcing the award. “You are to be commended for your efforts. We thank you.”
“I am humbled by this award, and I am honored to accept it,” Stuart said. “Education is the most important plank in the foundation of any democratic society, and I remain committed as always to supporting our students, our schools and the dedicated professionals whose selfless daily efforts enable them to accomplish their mission of preparing our children for the future.”
