GRANITE CITY, Ill. – State Representative Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, in partnership with Granite City Township Assessor Deborah Gray, will host a seminar on property taxes for residents of Granite City, IL. The event will be held on June 14th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Granite City Township Supervisor’s Office, 2060 Delmar Ave., Suite A, in Granite City. There is no cost to attend.
“Property taxes have been a significant source of stress for many homeowners,” said Stuart. “The purpose of this free seminar is to educate the public on options for lowering or appealing their property tax bill.”
The event will be held in conjunction with the Granite City Assessor’s Office, which will give a presentation about available exemptions and how to apply for them. There will also be a time for questions afterward. Residents with questions about their property taxes are asked to bring a copy of their property tax bill.
“The way through tough times is for communities to stand together,” said Stuart. “I am committed to ensuring that those I represent have access to all the assistance the law entitles them to, and access starts with awareness. I encourage homeowners to attend this event to learn more about the benefits that may be available to them.”
Those who are unable to attend the seminar may reach out to the Granite City Assessor or contact Rep. Stuart’s office at 618-365-6650 or by email at repkatiestuart@gmail.com.
