CHICAGO – State Rep. La Shawn K. Ford, D-Chicago, is inviting lawyers, lawmakers, business owners and the general public for a virtual town hall discussion Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. on cannabis licensing in Illinois.
“The cannabis industry is booming in Illinois, but the licensing rollout has left some communities behind,” Ford said. “Ongoing lawsuits are representative of the issues with the licensing process, and this town hall will give residents an opportunity to talk about developments. We’re expecting to hear from social equality applicants struggling to start their craft grown, dispensary, transportation and other cannabis related businesses In Illinois.”
Ford’s town hall will specifically highlight ongoing lawsuits regarding the license process in Illinois, as well as what action can be done to clear up delays in Cook County and allow for new cannabis businesses to open.
