AURORA, Ill. – In recognition of their hours of hard work and sacrifice, state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, organized a Valentine’s Day card campaign for healthcare workers in her community. She was joined by state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, who helped coordinate letter gathering for the campaign as well.
“It’s a privilege to be able to bring some winter cheer to a group of dedicated healthcare professionals, who have played a more important role than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Hernandez said. “I am truly grateful for their contributions, and I hope they see that, in addition to gestures like this, my commitment to supporting them by fighting for pro-healthcare and pro-science legislation is strong.”
Hernandez and Kifowit worked with their staff and nearby communities to write and distribute Valentine’s Day cards to the dedicated healthcare professionals working to keep Illinoisans safe. Hernandez’s pro-healthcare advocacy has included the introduction and passage of numerous bills guaranteeing women’s rights to reproductive health services, among many other major legislative initiatives.
“It is so important to keep our healthcare workers feeling appreciated,” Kifowit said. “The response from the community in making the cards we delivered was amazing and the thought of them making one of our healthcare workers smile is beyond words. Thank you to all who participated.”
